Manor ISD has named Carolyn Parker, the new principal of Lagos Elementary School in June 2024. With a distinguished career in educational leadership, Parker brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of fostering student and teacher growth through data-driven decision-making and strong community relationships.

Parker has been part of the Lagos Elementary community since 2021 as the Assistant Principal. During her tenure, she has been instrumental in strengthening school systems, supporting professional learning communities, and improving school security. Her leadership has been pivotal in coordinating campus programs and enhancing the educational environment.

Before joining Lagos Elementary, Parker was the principal at Dessau Elementary School in Pflugerville ISD, where she made significant strides in improving the school's performance. Under her leadership, Dessau Elementary raised its rating from a D to a C within her first year. The turnaround was achieved through effective Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and a focused approach to closing academic gaps. Parker's leadership experience also includes guiding Dessau Elementary through a significant transition from a 3-5 campus to a PK-5 campus.

In her previous roles, Parker has demonstrated her commitment to professional growth and reflection, employing practices such as T-TESS, Fundamental 5, and Jim Knight Coaching. Her efforts have consistently focused on creating an environment that supports bilingual, bi-literate, and bicultural students through a robust dual-language program.

"I am honored to continue my journey with Lagos Elementary as the new principal," said Parker. "I look forward to building on our successes and working collaboratively with our dedicated staff, students, and families to achieve our shared vision. Together, we will continue to create a nurturing and effective learning environment that fosters growth and excellence."

Parker's extensive experience spans almost 25 years, including roles as an assistant principal at various campuses and a teacher in multiple subjects. Her educational background includes a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University Texas and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Austin.
